BULLARD, TX (East Texas News) – Four people were detained by ICE after a traffic stop in Bullard on Friday, June 27, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
There was no large-scale operation near a construction zone in Bullard, Texas. DHS spokesperson Dexter Henson confirmed that state and local authorities conducted several traffic stops, which resulted in the detention of four individuals in the area.
The Bullard police chief, Jeff Bragg, confirmed that the traffic stop conducted near Interstate 69 and Farm to Market Road 2493 was prompted by a traffic violation.
According to the chief, during the stop four people “could not be identified” because they were unable to present a state-issued identification document.
When asked whether it is standard practice to contact ICE during a traffic stop if a person cannot provide identification, Chief Bragg said that a DHS Special Agent in Training who was present at the scene contacted ICE due to the individuals not being identifiable.
He also noted that ICE was already in the area at the time.
