Crockett, TX (East Texas News) – Destruction, like what we’ve seen this week, often brings out the best in people.
Jessica James, a longtime Crockett resident, said she’s grateful to be able to help her community during difficult times. She said moments like these reveal a personal responsibility as a Crockett resident to give back.
James spent the afternoon gathering supplies for the families displaced by the tornado that tore through Monday night. She offered words of encouragement to those affected by the storm.
“Don’t lose hope. Don’t be discouraged. We’re in this together, because we’re better together and we will recover, rebuild,” James said. “Notice I didn’t say ‘I’; I said ‘we’ because two heads are better than one, and we all must come together to support one another to get to where we need to be.”
If you’d like to help, volunteers are requesting water and toiletry items, and you can drop them off at the Crockett Civic Center, Mimsy’s BBQ, Kiesha’s Cafe, or Betty Boop’s Diner.
