TYLER, TX (EAST TEXAS NEWS) – Eastman Chemical Company will invest $1.3 billion to expand its Longview facility.
Longview Mayor Andy Mack announced the expansion plan on Monday.
“Of all places in the United States, they chose us, and I couldn’t be more grateful,” Mack said in a post on social media. “This investment represents the largest cash infusion in our region from any company of any kind.”
The expansion will add 204 jobs with an anticipated average annual salary of $92,000.
Mack praised the measure for the economic benefits he expects it will bring to Longview.
“Over the next two to three years there will be roughly 2,500 construction workers on this project, eating at our restaurants, staying in our hotels, and providing a broad boost to our economy,” he said.
“I applaud the hard work of the City of Longview, the Longview Economic Development Corporation, the Marshall Economic Development Corporation, Gregg County, Harrison County, Hallsville ISD, and Governor Greg Abbott for creatively working together to partner with Eastman to enhance our community for decades to come,” Mack said.
