Roofing Work Determines Fire Cause at Mineola Business

October 20, 2025

TYLER, TX (EAST TEXAS NEWS) – More details surfaced after crews responded to a fire at a Mineola business last Saturday.

Mineola Fire Chief David Madsen said the incident stemmed from roofing work underway at 124 E. Broad Street.

The Mineola Fire Department was dispatched at about 4:58 p.m., and upon arrival, responders reported smoke rising from the roof.

Firefighters bore holes through the roof and ceiling to access the attic, Madsen explained. He added that the blaze was brought under control in roughly 40 minutes and remained confined to the attic. However, the firefighting efforts also caused damage inside the building.

Quitman, Alba, and Hainseville Fire Departments assisted in the response, and Madsen noted that there were no injuries.
