Downing said that Manzano was found dead in his hotel room and that the media outlet continues cooperating with authorities.
According to investigators in the case, security camera footage shows a woman identified as Danette Colbert with Manzano on the morning of Wednesday, February 5.
Authorities say in the video Colbert is seen leaving Manzano’s hotel room later in the morning.
Colbert is charged with using Manzano’s credit card at several stores in the greater New Orleans area, which led authorities to arrest her.
So far, the defendant faces only property-crime offenses, including fraud and offenses related to theft.
Police say Colbert has a criminal history that includes drugging men, stealing their money, fraudulently using their credit and debit cards, and other financial offenses.
Manzano earned his degree from Kansas State University. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs’ television team at the start of the 2024 season as a sideline reporter.
Manzano’s wife died last year in an accident in Topeka, Kansas. She was an elementary school teacher, according to WIBW.
The couple leaves behind a son and a one-year-old child.
The New Orleans medical examiner’s office confirmed that the autopsy is still pending.
