Fire Destroys Home in Lindale; Boy Treated for Smoke Inhalation

LINDALE, Texas (EAST TEXAS NEWS) – A fire in Lindale destroyed a house and a car, and a child is receiving treatment for smoke inhalation.

The blaze began shortly after 11 a.m. in the 12900 block of County Road 474.

According to Lindale Fire Department Deputy Chief Troy Pritchard, a 13-year-old boy is receiving treatment for smoke inhalation. He and his mother were the only occupants in the home at the time of the fire and they managed to escape.

One family pet died in the fire. According to the county, the child was sleeping in the home when the fire occurred.

According to the Smith County Fire Chief’s Office, a preliminary investigation found an overloaded power strip in the origin area.

The home and the car were a total loss.
