Jacksonville Police Activate Regional SWAT to Arrest Robbery Suspect

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (EAST TEXAS NEWS) – The Cherokee County Regional SWAT Team successfully arrested a robbery suspect Tuesday morning.

Jacksonville police were dispatched to a reported robbery at 7:47 a.m. in which an AK-47-style pistol was stolen. Police identified the suspect from surveillance footage as Jayden Duane Hopson, 23, according to a press release.

Because of Hopson’s criminal history, the SWAT team was activated. They went to Hopson’s home in the 1000 block of Border Street at 1:36 p.m. and arrested him without incident. The officers also located the weapon, according to the press release.

Hopson is charged with robbery and additional charges may be pending.

The SWAT team consists of officers from the Jacksonville Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and Bullard Police Department. Henderson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT also assisted.
