September 29, 2025

JASPER, Texas (EAST TEXAS NEWS) – A Jasper County inmate has been charged with property damage after disrupting court proceedings on Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Tuesday, Tommy Shivers, 49, a Jasper resident, appeared in court. He has been jailed for driving while intoxicated and was escorted from the jail to the courthouse.

According to the sheriff’s office report, Shivers behaved disruptively in the courtroom, which led an officer to remove him from the building, still in handcuffs. As they were leaving, Shivers struck his elbow against a glass door, breaking it, the sheriff’s office reported. Neither Shivers nor the officer were injured.

An arrest warrant was issued for Shivers on property damage charges, with fines set at more than $100 and less than $750.
