LONDON (AP) — Ozzy Osbourne’s death certificate indicates he died of a heart attack and had coronary artery disease, in addition to having lived with Parkinson’s disease for years.
The singer had coronary artery disease, as well as Parkinson’s, according to the certificate filed with a registry office in London and obtained by The New York Times on Tuesday. Osbourne died on July 22 at the age of 76.
The Associated Press emailed the registry office in the London Borough of Hillingdon, which covers the district where the Black Sabbath frontman was officially recorded as deceased, seeking confirmation but received no reply. Osbourne’s representatives did not respond to AP’s requests for comment.
The document was filed by Osbourne’s daughter, Aimée Osbourne, The New York Times reported. Osbourne died of “(a) out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (b) acute myocardial infarction (c) coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (combined causes),” the certificate states.
Osbourne, who also became an unlikely reality-TV star, announced in 2020 that he was living with Parkinson’s after suffering a fall. In announcing his death, his family asked for privacy and said the musician was with family at the time of his passing.
Last week, fans from across the country gathered in his hometown of Birmingham to mourn his passing. Osbourne had performed there just weeks earlier, while admirers watched the heavy-metal icon perform from a black throne on stage.
During the show, Osbourne told the audience: “I don’t know what to say, I’ve been bedridden for about six years. You have no idea how I feel — from the bottom of my heart, thank you. All of you are… special. Let’s go crazy.”
