Suspect Arrested in California in Tyler Teen Girl’s Disappearance

TYLER, TX (EAST TEXAS NEWS) – The suspect in the disappearance of a Tyler teenager has been identified as Brian Chávez, 21, of Anaheim, California.

The Anaheim Police Department, California, arrested Chávez on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 in Placentia, California where he faces three separate criminal charges related to the sexual abuse of a minor under 16.

The girl was found safe and reunited with her family.

Smith County investigators worked with the Anaheim Police Department to resolve this incident successfully.

Chávez will face additional charges in Smith County. For the moment, no further information will be released while more details are gathered.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank members of the public and the media for helping to achieve a happy ending to what could have been a devastating outcome.
