Zavalla Issues Boil-Water Advisory After Well Work

September 24, 2025

ZAVALLA, Texas (East Texas News) – The town of Zavalla is instructing residents to boil their water after tests did not reveal any significant contaminants.

The notice comes a day after the city had to shut down the system when municipal officials learned that the well had been tampered with.

Public Works Director Tyler Morrison said posts circulating on social media showed the well cap open. The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate.

The city is still awaiting the results of any low-level contaminants.

The East Texas Food Bank will deliver pallets of bottled water to City Hall for the public to pick up. The delivery is expected to arrive between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
