Motorcyclist Dies in Crash in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (EAST TEXAS NEWS) – A motorcyclist died and his passenger was injured in a crash along US 69 in Cherokee County Saturday afternoon.

According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the rider, 51-year-old Owen O’Neill, was traveling northbound on US 69 at 12:30 p.m. with a group of motorcyclists. Other drivers saw O’Neill trembling at the handlebars before he collapsed. Both O’Neill and his passenger were ejected.

O’Neill died at a Tyler hospital, and his passenger received treatment for injuries at another Tyler hospital.
